Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests...

Top Five Reasons Why I Can't Wait For My Laptop To Be Fixed:

5) So that my housemate won't continue to think that I'm addicted to the Internet. Even though I am, it's an addiction I would prefer to nurse in secret.

4) So that I can catch up on the two Glee episodes I've missed. You have no idea how much the narrative gaps (and the interminable wait until the second season begins on April 13, 2010) are killing me.

3) So that I can blast pandora.com (Jesse McCartney station, per Amygdala's spot-on recommendation) in my room and dance my heart out with no commercial interruptions (my current exercise of choice :).

2) So that I really have no more excuse not to upload the rest of my Fulbright pictures and send out an embarassingly overdue life-update email.

1) So that my soul can feast on the bounty of free Tim Keller sermons added to the Redeemer store semi-recently.

~~~~~~~
I can't find the motivation to vacuum my room (which is currently bringing whole new meaning to adjectives like 'dire', desperate', and 'disgusting'), but now that I've lost one of the backings to my favorite and irreplaceable pair of earrings from my aunt in Taiwan, I have further reason not to (by the minuscule chance that it is tucked away in some dust bunny)...and that makes me very extremely sad :( The return of my earring backing...that's all I want for Christmas...
Fortunately, I can say that I am incredibly thankful to be spending the Christmas holiday with friends. Their hospitality points me to the reason for the season :)
On this first day of winter and longest night of the year, let's not forget to say a prayer for all those who do not have a place to call home. After all, even "the Son of Man ha[d] no place to lay his head" (Luke 9:58b)...
B(l)oo Mood
Single-digit temperatures tomorrow. Shoot me now.
My housemate's dog smells and I just stepped in cat vomit. Mom & Dad's pet averseness: 1, my previous desire for a pet: 0. (Okay not really...but I will think long and hard before I decide to adopt a puppy in the future.)
Christmas plans are still kinda non-existent, and I'm too lazy/weary to hash them out. Depressing times like these mean it's bedtime. Good night!
Thirty-two pounds of blessings
Thanksgiving with the Turners (my Fulbright roomie's family) was one of the best holidays I've ever experienced, a taste of how I envision all my future holiday get-togethers.
It was beautiful to see three generations coming together to share traditions and revive memories garnered over the years. (What pride and joy Gran must have felt as the matriarch!) Most of the extended family knew me by name before any formal introductions were made and literally welcomed me with open arms (I love hugs :)! The Turkey Bowl football game, thirty-two pound turkey (!!!x32), 'Wizard of Oz'-themed talent show, goodbye to 'Glenda' on the front porch, heart-to-heart conversations with the ladies, stroll through Rockefeller State Park Preserve, food and leftovers galore (including the care package sent home with me)...I will treasure all of these moments forever. And what an indescribable blessing to see my friend in the context of her roles within the family - as daughter, sister, niece, cousin, granddaughter, godmother...
I experienced firsthand the true spirit of the holiday season, and it left an indelible mark. Just another reminder this year of the undue grace He has showered down upon me.
Initiation
While waiting to cross the street on my way to work, I regarded the straggler car with impatience until I noticed that I recognized the driver from a previous North End Action Team (www.neatmiddletown.org) meeting that I had attended. I also caught her eye, and we acknowledged each other's presence with a wave and a smile. That moment marked my initiation as an official Middletown resident.
Nuggets
Another day of shopping success, though this one was purely accidental :) I love that Connecticut does not tax clothes and shoes!
My new phone is amazing...the contrast between this one and my last is pretty comical xP What I love most about it? The fact that it has made communication with my sister that much easier :)
Moving on up (to Middletown) tomorrow, if all things go well. It was a blast, New Haven, but I'm ready to explore all that Middletown has to offer.
Met a nice New Haven townie today who shared his umbrella and his thoughts on town-gown relations. I enjoy encountering new people and new perspectives, but I guess my question is: where's the line between "shrewd as snakes" and "innocent as doves"? Please share nuggets of wisdom.
